The initiative marks a new chapter in the region's history, ensuring legal security, dignity, and access to citizenship for its residents.
The delivery of TRMs represents much more than a document; it's a guarantee that the home where each family has built their life will receive formal recognition from the government. The document ensures the official link to the property, providing greater peace of mind and paving the way for obtaining definitive title in the future.
"The title of regularization provides security, increases the value of the home, and allows residents to pass the property on to their children. There's nothing more joyful and fulfilling than knowing we have our own little home," said Deputy Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere in the presence of residents who received the documents.
Land regularization guarantees legal security, secures property ownership, and facilitates access to basic rights such as drinking water, sanitation, electricity, garbage collection, and an official address with a postal code. Furthermore, it increases property value, facilitates access to housing credit, allows for legal purchase and sale negotiations, and ensures that the property can be legally passed on to future generations.
From January to August of this year, more than 1.500 Housing Recognition Terms were issued to residents and more than 300 Property Registrations were delivered in communities and subdivisions of the city, such as Colônia Juliano Moreira, in Jacarepaguá, Estrada do Magarça, in Guaratiba, Parque Alegria, in Caju, Tijuquinha, in Itanhangá, Loteamento Sociólogo Betinho and Engenho I and II, in Bangu.
Created in 2022, the Housing Recognition Agreement is a milestone in Rio's land regularization policy. It allows each family to closely monitor the process within City Hall and brings security and hope to thousands of Rio residents, even before definitive title is granted.
For the Secretary of Community Action, Gustavo Freue, land regularization is the way to guarantee greater security and rights for families:
"What we're delivering today is much more than a document. It's security, stability, and a future. With land regularization, each family now has the assurance that their home is protected, that what they built with so much effort can be passed down as an inheritance to their children. This is the path we want to follow: to give families peace of mind now and in the future," says Freue.
With this latest action, the City Hall reaffirms its commitment to land regularization and the guarantee of rights, bringing security, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.
"It's an achievement and a desire that dates back to my mother's time. Knowing that today I have the guarantee of having a document for my home is gratifying. I've been waiting for this regularization title for a long time. My life has changed! I'll sleep soundly. From now on, it's nothing but happiness," said general services assistant Nara Marques da Silva, who lives with her two children in the Entre Rios community.
