Favela with Dignity arrives in Terreirão, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes

The Rio City Hall, through the Community Action Department, will bring the Favela com Dignidade program to Terreirão, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, in the West Zone, this Saturday (29/6). The integrated action, with the presence of municipal and state departments and agencies, will take place from 9 am to 15 pm, on Rua HW 19, near the Vila da Amizade Residents Association.

– Favela com Dignidade facilitates the population’s access to the main services provided by the city government to improve living conditions in favelas and communities -, says the Secretary of Community Action, Marlí Peçanha.

In addition to the services that will be offered during the community action, the city government has already initiated some interventions to improve the quality of life in the region. These include maintenance of the lighting system, wire trapping operations, with the removal of loose and unused wires, repaving of asphalt, installation of parking signs, painting of speed bumps, unblocking of manholes by replacing covers, street cleaning and weeding. The work is being carried out by Rioluz, the Municipal Conservation Department, CET-Rio and Comlurb.

Implemented in 2021, Favela com Dignidade has already promoted 27 joint community actions, with more than 41 thousand direct services.

Services that will be offered:

Health's Secretary – Vaccination against Covid-19, Influenza, Hepatitis B and dT (Diphtheria and tetanus), guidance with the oral health team on oral hygiene, dissemination and guidance on the harms of smoking, guidance on care for the prevention of arboviruses (dengue, zika, chikungunya), women's health, family planning, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and distribution of male and female condoms.

Housing Department – Registration for the My Home My Life Program.

Social Assistance Secretariat – Technical support with guidance on accessing social assistance programs, projects and benefits. Guidance on scheduling the Single Registry and checking the NIS number.

Secretary of Education – Offering places in daycare centers, Child Development Centers (EDIs) and schools, as well as places in the Youth and Adult Education Program (PEJA). Guidance on enrollment and pedagogical monitoring of students in the network, active search for students, reading and storytelling workshops.

Citizenship Secretariat | Procon Carioca – Consumer service: consumer complaints regarding undue charges, defective products, debt renegotiation, poor quality services and other consumer problems.

Leo XIII Foundation – Exemption for the 2nd copy of death, birth, divorce and marriage certificates. Qualification for community marriage.

Women's Secretariat – Eyelash extension services and jewelry making workshop

Department of Culture – Storytelling, fun games, collages, paintings and reading space (sign language available)

Secretariat of Science and Technology – Digital Citizenship Day: assistance for the population to search for services and rights on the internet, in addition to platforms such as the Gov.br portal.

Department of Transportation – Information on obtaining a senior citizen card, a card for people with disabilities and other queries, as well as guidance on transport in the region.

Sports Department – Zumba class.

Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities – Guidance on the rights of people with disabilities and dissemination of services provided at Municipal Reference Centers for People with Disabilities.

Parks and Gardens Foundation – Distribution of plant seedlings and guidance on how to preserve them.

IplanRio – IT support for the bodies that will participate in the event.

CET-Rio – Distribution of educational material and holding children’s games.

Civil defense– Guidance on safe homes and scheduling inspections.
