Favela com Dignidade provides 1.561 services at Parque Ideal, in Realengo

The Favela com Dignidade program has surpassed the 40 attendance mark since its launch in 2021 - Disclosure

The City of Rio, through the Community Action Secretariat, took the Favela com Dignidade program to Realengo, in the West Zone, this Saturday (27/4), and registered 1.561 direct services to residents of the region, surpassing 40 thousand direct services since its implementation, in 2021. The joint action was carried out in the Parque Ideal community and had the participation of several secretariats and public bodies of the municipality and the state with the provision of multiple services.

– Favela com Dignidade ensures that everyone has access to public services close to home, without the need for long journeys and with the possibility of receiving more than one service on the same day – highlighted the Secretary of Community Action, Marlí Peçanha.

Among the most sought-after services were those offered by the Health Department, which included vaccinations, tips on preventing arboviruses (dengue, zika and chikungunya), prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and guidance on oral hygiene. The public also filled the tent of the Housing Department, which offered registrations for the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program. There was a great demand for the beauty workshops offered by the Department of Policies and Promotion of Women, which included eyebrow design, braiding and facial cleansing. The department also promoted the Tem Saída campaign, aimed at women in situations of violence. The Youth Department provided information about courses with open vacancies on the topics of Advanced Industry and DJ, aimed at people between 15 and 29 years old.

The Community Action Secretariat announced the Casa Carioca project in the community and provided information about the planned implementation of the Recicla Comunidade project in the area.

The Leão XIII Foundation received a large number of people seeking exemption for the second copy of their identity cards and certificates. The Department of Social Welfare provided guidance to residents on CadÚnico and social assistance services, programs and benefits such as BPC/LOAS for seniors aged 65 and over and people with disabilities.

The Department of Citizenship, responsible for Procon Carioca, recorded consumer problems and provided guidance on human rights violations. The Department of Education provided referrals for vacancies in the municipal network and in the Youth and Adult Education Program (PEJA), in addition to providing guidance on vacancies in daycare centers. The department also offered reading and storytelling workshops, in addition to actively seeking out students who were not attending school.

The Department of Persons with Disabilities spoke about the rights of persons with disabilities and publicized the services offered by the City Hall for PWDs and their families at the Municipal Reference Centers for Persons with Disabilities. The Department of Transportation gave tips on parking cards for the elderly and persons with disabilities, on appeals against fines, and informed about the return of some bus lines in the region.

The Civil Defense provided guidance on the risks of balloon releases, which are common at this time of year, and provided guidance on scheduling preventive inspections of properties in the region and on precautions to keep homes safe. IplanRio provided IT support to the agencies that participated in the event, and the Pereira Passos Institute (IPP) explained its work with the Social Territories program, which aims to include families that are not yet included in the City Hall's social programs and registries. The Sports Department held a Zumba class to encourage physical activity and get the public in shape.

In addition to the services offered during the community action, the City Hall has also initiated some interventions to improve the quality of life in the region. These include maintenance of the lighting system, wire trapping operations to remove loose and unused wires, replacement of manhole covers, street cleaning and weeding. The work is being carried out by Rioluz, the Municipal Conservation Department and Comlurb.

Favela com Dignidade aims to guarantee and facilitate access to public services for communities with lower Social Development Indexes, providing better living conditions for residents of these locations. Implemented in 2021, the initiative has already promoted 27 joint community actions, with more than 40 thousand direct services.
