City Hall provides 1.358 services in Curicica with the Favela com Dignidade program

The Rio City Hall, through the Community Action Department, took the Favela com Dignidade program to Curicica, in the West Zone, on Thursday (31/10), providing 1.358 direct services to residents of the region. Several departments and municipal agencies participated in the joint action in the Vila União community.

– Favela com Dignidade brings City Hall services to the most vulnerable people, with the aim of meeting their needs close to home, without the need for long journeys. We believe that, with this initiative, we can make a difference in the lives of those who often do not have opportunities – highlighted the Secretary of Community Action, Marlí Peçanha.

In addition to the services offered in the joint action, the City Hall has already begun interventions to improve the quality of life in the region. Improvements include replacing the traditional lighting system with LEDs, carrying out wire trapping operations to remove loose and unused wires, unclogging drainage pipes, general street cleaning, replacing garbage containers and revitalizing horizontal and vertical signage. These works are being carried out by Rioluz, the Municipal Conservation Department, Comlurb and CET-Rio.

The Health Department team administered vaccines against influenza, hepatitis B and tetanus, as well as rapid tests for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C. Guidance was also provided on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), women's health, in reference to Pink October, and information on the Sisreg flow. Health professionals warned about the harmful effects of smoking and gave tips on oral health.

The Housing Department registered those interested in the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program, and the Social Assistance Department provided social services and guidance on CadÚnico and the services offered by the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) in the region.

The Department of Education provided information on vacancies in the municipal network for 2025 and on the PEJA (Youth and Adult Education Program). The Department of Culture carried out registrations for workshops offered by the department. The Department of Youth promoted a practical drone piloting workshop and provided information on courses available at Youth Spaces, such as Drone Operator, DJ, Robotics, Game Design and Social Media.

The Department for Persons with Disabilities provided guidance on the rights of persons with disabilities, spoke about benefits and publicized the services of the Municipal Centers for Persons with Disabilities. The Department of Transportation informed about the replacement of Riocard by Jaé as of February 1, 2025 and explained how to obtain a parking card for the elderly and a vehicle identification card for persons with disabilities.

Procon Carioca provided guidance to the public on consumer issues and registered complaints, in addition to granting exemptions for duplicate certificates. The Secretariat for Women's Policy offered guidance on training courses and assistance for women in situations of domestic violence. The Secretariat for Sports offered functional training exercises and Zumba.

Civil Defense provided information on accident prevention and safe housing, while the Parks and Gardens Foundation distributed plant seedlings and taught maintenance care. CET-Rio distributed educational materials on traffic rules for pedestrians, drivers and motorcyclists, and IplanRio provided IT support to participating agencies.

Implemented in 2021, Favela com Dignidade has already promoted 30 joint community actions, with more than 46 thousand direct services.
