Social Assistance delivers new headquarters of Cras Maria Vieira Bazani, in Guaratiba

The new Maria Vieira Bazani Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) was delivered this Friday (July 09) to the population of Guaratiba. The unit's headquarters is now two kilometers closer to the approximately two thousand people served each month at the location: the space was moved from the top of a steep hill, inside Fazenda Modelo, to the entrance of the institution, in an area provided by the Municipal Guard and renovated by the maintenance team of the Rio Acolhedor shelter, in Paciência, with the help of the network of Social Assistance employees in the region.

– It is an honor to return this space to the population, to the citizens. This is a collective effort of the 10th CAS (Social Assistance Coordination) and, when we join forces intersectorally to get the system working again, we are contributing to the city – said the municipal secretary of Social Assistance, Laura Carneiro.

The expectation is that, with the new address, more people will be served at the center. In addition to guidance and referrals, CRAS Maria Vieira Bazani carries out an average of 568 CadÚnico (a federal government registry that allows access to various social programs, such as Bolsa Família) services per month. It also supports 526 families through the Family Protection and Comprehensive Care Service (PAIF), 298 people through the technical team of social workers, psychologists and educators, and 240 in the Coexistence and Strengthening of Bonds Service groups.

– We are entering the seventh month of management and we have already delivered this dignified space to serve the population of the West Zone, who are in great need – said the deputy mayor of the West Zone, Edson Menezes.

The coordinator of the 10th CAS, Roberta Costa, and the director of Cras, Elaine Militão, say that the new space will provide more dignity to the service provided to users.
