Folia Legal will distribute identification bracelets in six children's blocks, in addition to the children's parade, from Friday to Tuesday of Carnival and on the Saturday of the champions.

The Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CMDCA-Rio) is carrying out an action during Carnival that aims to increase the protection of children and adolescents. The initiative is being carried out in partnership with the Municipal Guard, the Foundation for Children and Adolescents (FIA) and the Municipal Secretariat for Social Assistance and Human Rights (SMASDH).

To this end, teams will be present in the children's blocks and children's parade with the aim of informing parents or guardians about the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of young people, preventing child sexual exploitation, in addition to distributing identification bracelets.

“This action, which has been running for four years, is of fundamental importance to reinforce the care and protection of children and adolescents, since during Carnival they are more susceptible to getting lost. To give you an idea of the reach of our work, last year we distributed five thousand bracelets” – explains the vice-president of CMDCA-Rio and member of the Municipal Guard, Carla Marize Augusta da Silva.

Called “Folia Legal”, the event will feature a specialized team distributed across six blocks, in addition to the children’s parade, from Friday to Tuesday of Carnival and on Saturday of the champions. To attract the attention of children and teenagers and make the initiative more visible, balloons and banners will be placed at the locations.
