The action of the Undersecretariat of Policies for Women aims to raise awareness among the population during Carnival.

The Undersecretariat of Policies for Women, of the Secretariat of Social Assistance and Human Rights (SMASDH), in partnership with BRT, carried out today, at the Alvorada Terminal, in Barra da Tijuca, an action that aimed to continue the campaign FOLIA SIM, HARASSMENT SEXUAL NÃO, which had the support of the 7th CASDH and the Subprefecture of Barra da Tijuca.

The action, called “Noise of Sexual Harassment”, had the participation of educators, social workers and psychologists, who distributed informative material and props to the public, in addition to the contagious joy of the Comlurb group “Chegando de Surpresa”, with the iconic Renato Sorriso.

The entire action is based on Law No. 13.718/2018, on Sexual Harassment, which is a crime and carries a prison sentence. The law defines the crimes of sexual harassment and disclosure of rape scenes, and makes the nature of the criminal action for crimes against sexual freedom and sexual crimes against vulnerable people public and unconditional.

It is worth mentioning that SMASDH technicians are prepared to guide the public during the carnival period, so that if there is any victim, they can seek out the competent bodies, such as the Specialized Police Station for Women (DEAM) and the Specialized Center for Women (CEAM) Chiquinha Gonzaga, which offers psychological support and legal guidance to women in situations of domestic and family violence, and information for women will also be included in the campaign's printed material.
