General City Archive launches new edition of “Carioca Testimonies”

The General City Archive, an agency linked to the Civil House, opens the 2024 season of the interview series “Depoimentos Cariocas”, this Tuesday (16/01), at 17 pm. Singer and composer Alaíde Costa is the interviewee of this edition, which features participation from composer Guinga and singer Áurea Martins. In the conversation, which will be available at YouTube from the General Archive, the artist revisits important moments in her career.

Memories of her childhood in the North Zone of Rio and her participation in talent shows at the circus and on the radio are among the memories of the 88-year-old artist, with more than 70 of those dedicated to music. A career that dates back to the early 1950s, when she debuted on the radio, on records and in the nightlife, as a crooner at Dancing Avenida, in Cinelândia. Alaíde also remembers bossa nova meetings, partners such as Johnny Alf, Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, and her participation in the historic LP “Clube da Esquina”.

The “Depoimentos Cariocas” series is in its 33rd interview, with monthly testimonies published on the Arquivo Geral YouTube channel. Murilo Alvesso
