The Rio Museum of Modern Art (MAM) will host the BRICS Heads of State Summit, scheduled for July 6 and 7. The space, located in Flamengo Park, underwent extensive renovation last year, led by Rio City Hall, which included improvements to both indoor and outdoor areas.

In November 2024, the MAM had already hosted the G20 meeting, welcoming leaders such as Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron. Now, it will be the turn of the heads of state of China, Russia, India, South Africa and other invited countries, such as Egypt and Ethiopia.

In total, the event is expected to bring together around 4 participants, distributed among 40 delegations, significantly boosting the city's tourism and economic chain. The City Hall estimates a financial impact of over R$23 million during the two days of the event.

– Rio is proud to represent Brazil once again, showing the world not only the beauty of our city, but also our ability to host major international events with excellence. We were the capital of the G20 last year and now we will be the capital of the world again with BRICS, with the MAM and Aterro do Flamengo as our backdrop – said Mayor Eduardo Paes.

The summit reinforces Rio's position as a host city for major international meetings. According to a survey by the City Hall, tourists from BRICS countries represented only 18% of foreign visitors to the city in 2024. The goal now is to increase this percentage and attract more flights, investments and cultural exchanges with member countries.
