Transition Office begins work in the Faculty of Mathematics building, in Porto Maravilha

The working groups will meet until the end of December at the Faculty of Mathematics – IMPA Tech, in Porto Maravalley, in the Porto Maravilha region. During a press conference, reelected mayor Eduardo Paes explained how the Transition Cabinet will work, which will be coordinated by vice-mayor-elect Eduardo Cavaliere and federal deputy Pedro Paulo.
– It is very clear to us that the population believed in continuity and in the public policies that we have presented. We have made a permanent effort to renew ourselves. We will continue with good policies, but we are starting a new government. This transition process will define which policies should continue and what advances the city should make in the next term – said Eduardo Paes.
During the press conference, the mayor of Rio highlighted that civility is the word that encompasses what the new government wants for the city.
– Rio has always been welcoming and is once again hosting major events. Civility encompasses a series of actions. Let’s take care of those who need it most, live in an environment of greater harmony, greater public safety, and greater respect for the city’s rules. Rio needs to advance in what I call a civility shock, an expression that goes beyond public order, which has to do with the attitudes of citizens.
The main objective of the office is to define the goals and guidelines that will be part of the Strategic Plan for the period 2025-2028, which makes up the new term of office of Mayor Eduardo Paes and Vice-Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere, who take office on January 1st. The strategic planning of the new government focuses on the efficiency of the city's management.
Responsible for leading the preparation of the government plan, Eduardo Cavaliere thanked the trust placed in him to work on a historic mandate and lead the Transition Cabinet for the new government. He presented the new thematic axes of the strategic planning from 2025 to 2028: Fiscal Balance, Good Management and Governance; Civility and Security; Future, Economy and Happiness; Longevity, Equity and Humanity; Infrastructure, Disaster Prevention and Resilience.
– In this office, we will present an assessment of the current administration. In Mayor Eduardo Paes’ administrations, there is always an obsession with planning, with goals, with commitment to the population. We will deepen the government plan that was presented to the population during the campaign and we will lay the foundations for the strategic planning of the next term – said Cavaliere.
With the role of dialoguing with the parties that make up the political alliance, Pedro Paulo also thanked the opportunity to collaborate in assembling the team that will work in the next administration.
– My role here is to engage in institutional dialogue with the parties, starting with those who supported us in the election. My role in forming the government is to look at good politics, the alliances built, and names. No one governs alone, and the PSD has the responsibility of leading this process of institutional party dialogue – said Pedro Paulo.
During the Transition Cabinet, the composition of the new government will be announced. Municipal managers will diagnose and assess the management from 2021 to 2024, along with establishing the priorities and goals for 2025-2028. Workshops will be held on the thematic axes of the new government, coordinated by the president of the João Goulart Foundation, Rafaela Bastos, and the undersecretary of Planning and Monitoring of Results, Fernanda Mofati.
– Today we made the first and only change in the cabinet at the end of this term. The elected vice-mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, is leaving the Civil House and returning to his duties as a state deputy so that he can have more freedom to lead the transition. The person taking over the Civil House, effective for the next term, is Leandro Matieli, who headed my office in recent years – announced Eduardo Paes.
