The Rio City Hall has extended the in-person registration period for motorcycle taxi drivers who intend to use the Moto.Rio app. They have until the end of the month to present mandatory documents. The municipal departments of the Civil House and Transportation (SMTR) have once again set up a service station at the Municipal Server Club, Rua Hélio Beltrão, Cidade Nova, starting this Wednesday (24/05), from 9 am to 17 pm, and running until the 31st. The station will not be open on the weekend.

This Thursday (25/05) an outpost will open in the West Zone, at Rua Fonseca 240, 2nd floor, Bangu, which will operate from 9 am to 16 pm, until the 31st. The post will also not open on the weekend. All motorcycle taxi drivers pre-registered on the Moto.Rio app until May 16th will be served. There will be no division by license plate number. The first registration action took place between the 19th and 21st.

With this registration, it will be possible to start making trips with passengers from the second half of June. The app will not charge a fee to the Moto.Rio partner, and the full amount of the trip will go to the motorcycle taxi driver.

– The app will improve things a lot. We will have one more tool to work with and reinforce our service. Our profits will increase a lot. It will give more security to the worker and the passenger. One more transportation option in the city – celebrates motorcycle taxi driver Leonardo Fernandes, who registered on the first day of in-person registration.

The purpose of this step is to ensure the safety of the service for passengers. Motorcycle taxi drivers must be over 21 years of age and present the following documents (original and copy):

• Driving License – Category A (minimum of 2 years experience)
• Document proving that you are the owner of the motorcycle (CRLV)
• If the motorcycle belongs to a third party, a public or private power of attorney will be required to use the vehicle, with an authenticated copy of the motorcycle owner's photo ID.
• APP insurance policy (for personal accidents of passengers)

Certificates of electoral clearance and criminal record from the 1st to 4th Offices are also required, but these documents can be presented within 30 days. Optional civil liability insurance (RCF) is also required, but can be purchased within 12 months. Motorcycles must be in good condition, no more than 10 years old, have a kite line cutter attached, side and rear support for the passenger, and luggage rack. The driver must wear a special reflective vest and, in addition to wearing a helmet, must have a helmet available for the passenger.

To perform the service through the app, drivers must also take the specialization course for motorcycle taxi drivers, regulated by Detran, and the motorcycle must have a red license plate, like taxis.

Moto.Rio was developed by IplanRio (Municipal IT Company), an agency linked to the Municipal Secretariat for Digital Transformation and Public Integrity (SMTDI), in partnership with the Municipal Secretariat for Transportation (SMTR). The app will facilitate affordable transportation options and, when the first rides begin, it will work in a similar way to Taxi.Rio, with the option for passengers to choose percentages of the total ride value.
