City Hall signs cooperation agreement to boost 9,5 km of cycle paths in Porto Maravilha

Porto Maravilha is moving toward a more connected city with the implementation of 9,5 km of bike paths. The City of Rio de Janeiro and Cury Construtora, through the Companhia Carioca de Parcerias e Investimentos (CCPar), signed a cooperation agreement to revitalize 8,8 km of existing bike paths and create 660 meters of new routes in the region. The partnership was officialized on Wednesday (24/9) during the Rio Construction Summit 2025, at Píer Mauá.

The project includes the installation of two bike racks, one in Largo da Carioca and the other in Praça XV, near the ferry terminals. Both will be approximately 50 m² in size and each will hold 45 bicycles, boosting active mobility. The initiative is part of the ongoing transformation of the Downtown and Port Area, expanding travel options and integrating routes with the metro and light rail system, offering greater economic vitality and a better quality of life for those who live, work, and travel in the area.

With this partnership to expand and revitalize the bike paths, we are strengthening micromobility, generating a positive impact for residents, businesses, and visitors," highlighted Osmar Lima, Municipal Secretary of Economic Development.

"Urban transformation needs to go beyond the construction of new developments, and we believe that sustainable mobility is an essential part of this process, connecting people and enhancing the city. With this partnership, which includes the revitalization of bike paths and the installation of bike racks at strategic points, we are helping to make Porto Maravilha increasingly integrated and accessible, reaffirming our commitment to investing in Rio's future and in solutions that improve the daily lives of those who live, work, and travel downtown," explained Leonardo Mesquita, Cury's Vice President of Business.

CCPar is a company of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, responsible for the city's concessions and Public-Private Partnerships. Created in June 2022, the company assumed the responsibilities of the former Urban Development Company of the Port Region of Rio de Janeiro (Cdurp), which coordinated the implementation process of the Porto Maravilha Consortium Urban Operation (OUC).

Cury Construtora has played a central role in the development of Porto Maravilha since 2021, launching 18 projects. Today, the region is beginning to be occupied by thousands of families, solidifying its position as one of Rio de Janeiro's most dynamic urban growth hubs.
