The Municipal Infrastructure Department reports that it will begin installing a new temporary footbridge on Avenida Brasil, near Ramos, this weekend. The equipment will replace the old footbridge 11, which was removed after a vehicle crashed into it. The crash damaged the structure, putting pedestrians' lives at risk.

Below is the traffic plan set up by CET-Rio on Avenida Brasil, so that the walkway can be lifted and installed:

– Starting at 8 am this Saturday (01/05), Avenida Brasil will be partially closed to replace footbridge 11. The intervention will take place until 07/05.

– To make Transbrasil’s intervention viable, it will be necessary to close 2 lanes (right side) of Avenida Brasil, central lane, towards Deodoro, at the height of walkway 11, in Ramos.

– Vehicles will be diverted on the lane itself, in the narrow section.

– The main alternative route is the Red Line.

– The closure will involve the participation of traffic operators, including CET-Rio agents and third-party contractors, who will work to maintain fluidity, guide drivers and carry out blockades during the intervention.

– In addition, specific signage will be installed to guide and alert drivers.

RECOMMENDATIONS

– Respect the signs and instructions of traffic agents for the smooth running of the operation.

– For drivers who do not need to pass through the construction area, the suggestion is to use alternative routes for their journeys.
