The Rio de Janeiro Traffic Engineering Company (CET-Rio) will hold an awareness campaign with motorcyclists on Lauro Müller Street, in Botafogo, in the South Zone, this Thursday (5/6). The goal is to raise awareness about the need to respect the signs for the visually impaired in the area. During rush hour, many motorcyclists gather in the parking lot and end up invading the podotactile floor (also known as tactile floor, a type of floor covering that uses textures and reliefs on the ground to help visually impaired people move around and orient themselves, becoming an additional obstacle to urban mobility).
A new sign will be installed by CET-Rio at 10 am, with the educational intervention extending until 18 pm. The initiative involves a team of traffic educators from the Company, in partnership with the Regional Traffic Technical Coordination of the neighborhood and students from the Benjamin Constant Institute (IBC), the main users of the tactile floor.
