CET-Rio has prepared a special traffic operation for the Vera Cruz Race, which takes place this Wednesday (December 31st), with routes between Copacabana and Aterro do Flamengo. Road closures will begin at 2 am, on roads in the South Zone, with the aim of ensuring the safety of athletes and the flow of traffic.

The race will feature two courses: 15 km and 7,5 km. The 15 km course will start at 6:00 AM on Avenida Atlântica, between Rua Paula Freitas and Rua República do Peru, heading towards Aterro do Flamengo. The 7,5 km course will start at Aterro do Flamengo, near Marina da Glória. The finish line for both courses will also be at Aterro do Flamengo, near Marina da Glória.

To ensure special access to the Leme and Urca neighborhoods between 5 am and 9 am, CET-Rio will implement reversible lanes on Princesa Isabel, Lauro Sodré, and Venceslau Brás avenues, minimizing the impact of roadworks.

Teams from CET-Rio (Rio de Janeiro's traffic management company), the Municipal Guard, and traffic controllers will be working to manage intersections and guide drivers and pedestrians. Traffic will be monitored in real time at COR-Rio (Rio Operations Center), with the possibility of adjustments to traffic light programming and dispatching tow trucks, if necessary.
