CET-Rio implements traffic operation for the Porto Maravilha Half Marathon race.
Published on 09/05/2026 - 09:21 | UpdatedCET-Rio will implement a special traffic operation this Sunday (May 10th) for the "Porto Maravilha Half Marathon," a sporting event that will take place starting at 6 am, with routes through the city center and the South Zone. There will be road closures and parking restrictions on several streets. The first closures will begin at midnight, with additional blockages starting at 3 am.
For the event to take place, the closing time of the Flamengo landfill for the Leisure Area will be brought forward to midnight, on the lanes of Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, in both directions. The Competitive Cycling Protection Area (APCC) – Marcos Hama Circuit, in the Porto Maravilha region, will be exceptionally suspended this Sunday (May 10th), due to the Porto Maravilha Half Marathon.
CET-Rio technicians at the Operations and Resilience Center (COR-Rio) will monitor traffic using cameras, allowing adjustments to traffic light programming whenever necessary, with the goal of maintaining traffic flow. CET-Rio recommends using public transportation. Drivers should avoid traveling through the affected areas during the road closures and, whenever possible, use alternative routes.
