CET-Rio sets up special traffic scheme for the Rio Marathon and Half Marathon this weekend

CET-Rio informs that several roads in the South Zone and Center will be closed to facilitate the Rio Half Marathon and Marathon, which will take place this weekend.

On Saturday (18/6), the Half Marathon will start at Delfim Moreira Avenue and will continue along Vieira Souto Avenue, Francisco Otaviano Street, Atlantic Avenue, Princesa Isabel Avenue, Botafogo Bay, Aterro, General Justo Avenue until Marechal Âncora Square, where it will turn around. The race will end at Aterro do Flamengo, near Marina da Glória.

On Sunday (19/6), the Marathon will start at Aterro do Flamengo, near Marina da Glória, and will continue along Marechal Âncora Square, Primeiro de Março Street, the Museum of Tomorrow and Rodrigues Alves Avenue until it returns to Arlindo Rodrigues Street, near Rivadávia Corrêa Street. Afterwards, it will continue along Venezuela Avenue, Rio Branco Avenue, Primeiro de Março Street, Presidente Antônio Carlos Avenue, Santa Luzia Street, General Justo Avenue, Aterro, Botafogo Bay, Princesa Isabel Avenue, Atlantic Avenue, Francisco Otaviano Street and Vieira Souto Avenue until it returns to Delfim Moreira Avenue, near Niemeyer Avenue. The race will also end at Aterro do Flamengo, near Marina da Glória.

The reversible lane that is in operation on Sundays and holidays on Avenida Atlântica, in the lane next to the buildings, will be implemented and demobilized at its usual time, on Sunday, from 7 am to 18 pm. On Saturday, the reversible lane will not be implemented on Avenida Atlântica.

The traffic operation will involve 200 people on Saturday and 250 on Sunday, including employees at CET-Rio, municipal guards and traffic supporters, who will work to maintain fluidity, prevent illegal parking, organize intersections, guide pedestrians and drivers, in addition to carrying out blockades throughout the entire period of the events.

Traffic conditions will be monitored for potential impacts, and traffic light timings will be adjusted to improve flow on alternative routes and major traffic corridors in the region. Eight variable message panels will be used to provide information on traffic conditions, road closures and detour routes.

– Leme: Avenida Princesa Isabel (in reversible lane); Engenheiro Coelho Cintra Tunnel (in reversible lane); Avenida Lauro Sodré (in reversible lane); on the left at the access ramp to Rua General Severiano, next to Praça Engenheiro Bernardo Saião (Morro do Pasmado), Rua General Severiano; on the right at Praça Ozanan; on the right at Avenida Venceslau Brás (in reversible lane); Avenida Lauro Sodré (in reversible lane); Engenheiro Marques Porto Tunnel (in reversible lane); Avenida Princesa Isabel (in reversible lane); on the left at Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana.
