CET-Rio informs that, this Sunday (26/3), the Subida da Rocinha race will be held, starting at 7:30 am at Praça Pepé Lopes, at Clube de Voo Livre, in the São Conrado neighborhood. The route will begin on Avenida Prefeito Mendes de Morais, crossing the footbridge to Estrada do Joá, Estrada da Gávea in the opposite direction, going up Estrada da Gávea in the Rocinha neighborhood section, until arriving at the UPP (Pacifying Police Unit of PMERJ). The traffic operation will count on the participation of CET-Rio agents and traffic supporters who will work to maintain fluidity and guide drivers during the interventions.
Main prohibitions
To enable the assembly of the event route structures, it will be necessary to close the following roads from 6:30 am to 10 am:
– Princess Diana of Wales Street
– Mayor Mendes de Morais Avenue, from the Free Flight Community to the Golf Club
– Estrada da Gávea, in a lane, from the access to Estrada das Canoas to Rua Jaime Silvado, and from the access to Rua Leobaldo going up to UPP Rocinha in the opposite direction.
Vehicles coming from Barra da Tijuca, heading to Avenida Niemeyer, must access Avenida Prefeito Mendes de Morais from Rua Engenheiro Armandino de Carvalho. Access from Estrada do Joá and Estrada das Canoas will be via the return before the Joá Tunnel, on the right, and there will be a go and stop operation next to the roundabout on Estrada das Canoas.
The climb to the Rocinha neighborhood, from São Conrado to Gávea, will be normalized, only the descent. The access to the UPP to São Conrado will be closed for the race route, and in this case, the flow in that direction will be towards Gávea via Rua Cedro and Rua Mary Pessoa.
Clearance of the roads
All roads should be clear by 10am.

CET-Rio asks drivers to pay attention to the signs, the stop-and-go operation and parking restrictions along the race route, always following the instructions of traffic officers. Another recommendation is for people to opt for public transportation.
