The Apotheosis Square - Fabio Motta / Rio City Hall CET-Rio has set up a special traffic plan for the Champions Parade, on Saturday (25/2), at the Sambadrome. The closures will begin on Friday night (24/2) and into the early hours of Saturday, due to the movement of floats from the Special Group associations that were best placed in the Carnival to Avenida Presidente Vargas. The movement is scheduled to start at 22 pm (estimated), however some closures will begin at 17 pm:
– 17pm: Rivadávia Corrêa Street, in the section between Gamboa Street and Binário do Porto Avenue
From 22am:
– Avenida Binário do Porto, both lanes, in the section between Avenida Professor Pereira Reis and Avenida Venezuela
– Venezuela Avenue, entire length
– Praça Mauá, both directions, the entire length
– Rio Branco Avenue, in the section between Mauá Square and Presidente Vargas Avenue
– Rio 450 Tunnel, entire length
– Via B4, entire extension
– Avenida Rodrigues Alves, side road towards the Center, adjacent to the buildings, entire length
– Descent ramp from the Gasômetro Viaduct to Avenida Binário do Porto
– Acre Street, entire length; – Mayrink Veiga Street, entire length
Traffic flow around Rio's bus station is expected to be affected during the movement of the floats, due to the closure of Rodrigues Alves towards Avenida Binário do Porto. Therefore, the area should be avoided during this period. People with scheduled trips should arrive at the bus station in advance.
From midnight onwards, Avenida Presidente Vargas will be closed to position the floats and the immediate surroundings of the Sambadrome to prepare for the Champions Parade, such as Rua Benedito Hipólito, Rua Presidente Barroso, Rua Júlio do Carmo and Travessa Pedregais.

At 14:XNUMX p.m., the main access roads to Presidente Vargas Avenue will be blocked via Francisco Bicalho Avenue, Freyssinet Avenue and Praça da Bandeira. Traffic will also be diverted from Paulo de Frontin Avenue to Aristides Lobo Street, and the area around the Sambadrome will be expanded to include traffic restrictions on Salvador de Sá Avenue, Hélio Beltrão Street, Santana Street, Marquês de Pombal Street and several other roads in Cidade Nova.

At 19 pm, the last stage of closures will take place, with traffic restrictions on R. Frei Caneca, Viaduto Trinta e Um de Março, towards Laranjeiras and roads in Catumbi and roads close to Pça. da República.
It is estimated that all planned blockages will last until midday on Sunday (February 12), at which point all roads will be reopened.

On the day of the Champions Parade, the leisure area at Praça da Cruz Vermelha will be closed. The parking lot on Avenida Presidente Vargas to support SAARA will also not be open due to the Mega-blocos on Avenida Presidente Antônio Carlos.
