Street Carnival in Rio - Archive / Riotur CET-Rio has set up a special traffic plan to facilitate the parades of the blocks approved by the City Hall between this Friday (24/2) and Sunday (26/2). Below, we will present the operation of the blocks with the greatest possibility of interfering with the city's traffic. The closures will initially be carried out in the area where the blocks gather and will be gradually extended as the number of revelers moves. The reopening will occur after the public has dispersed, subject to the completion of the cleaning of the streets by Comlurb.
The traffic operation on each day of the event will involve 155 people, including CET-Rio agents, Municipal Guards and traffic support personnel, 15 operational vehicles and 28 motorcycles. The teams will work to organize intersections, guide pedestrians, prevent illegal parking and implement necessary roadblocks to ensure the maintenance of the fluidity of the road network and the safety of pedestrians, revelers and drivers. In addition, CET-Rio tow trucks will be positioned to immediately clear the roads in the event of accidents or vehicle breakdowns on the detour routes.
The Rio Operations Center (COR) will be monitoring all events with cameras so that CET-Rio technicians can implement adjustments to traffic light programming to ensure traffic flow. Special traffic light plans will be programmed to ensure flow on alternative routes due to road closures. 15 variable message panels will be used to provide information on traffic conditions and necessary detours.
