CET-Rio sets up a plan for the System of a Down show at the Nilton Santos Stadium, Thursday (08/05)

CET-Rio will implement a special traffic scheme this Thursday (8/5) for the System of a Down band's concert at the Nilton Santos Stadium, in Engenho de Dentro.

The traffic operation will begin at 14:155 p.m. and will involve 10 people, including CET-Rio teams, traffic agents and traffic support personnel, who will work to maintain traffic flow, prevent illegal parking, organize intersections, guide pedestrians and drivers, and also set up roadblocks throughout the event. In addition, 18 operational vehicles and 18 motorcycles will support the traffic plan, as well as XNUMX variable message panels with information about roadblocks and alternative routes for drivers.

Guidance for the public, pedestrians and drivers will be reinforced with the installation of signs indicating traffic interventions, in addition to variable message panels with information about road closure times and alternative routes. CET-Rio technicians, at the Rio Operations Center (COR), will monitor traffic movement in the region using cameras so that, if necessary, adjustments can be made to the traffic light schedule to ensure good traffic conditions.

The entire area surrounding the Nilton Santos stadium will have restricted traffic, so residents' vehicles will only be allowed to move around if they present proof of residence. In addition to the parking bans already in place in the area, there will also be parking restrictions on several other roads around the stadium.

To ensure proper traffic flow, buses will be prohibited from operating on roads near the stadium, except for those on regular city lines. Drivers must follow all signs to ensure their vehicles are not taken to public depots.

It is important to highlight that the main roads in the region are monitored by video surveillance, which means that, in addition to the agents working directly in the field, other teams at the Rio Operations Center will monitor traffic violations using cameras, such as parking and boarding/disembarking in prohibited areas. Specific signs have already been installed indicating the prohibitions in force and the existence of this type of monitoring.

The main recommendation for people attending the event is to use the train to get around, as it is a high-capacity form of transport and is not directly impacted by road closures.

Access to the Yellow Line, towards Avenida Brasil, can be done via Rua das Oficinas, from the intersection with Rua José dos Reis, under the Jornalista Armando Nogueira viaduct.

Vehicles coming from Rua Goiás may take the following detour:

-Goiás Street, Guilhermina Street, Dom Helder Câmara Avenue, José Bonifácio Street and Arquias Cordeiro Street;

Vehicles coming from Rua Piauí may take the following detour:

-Piauí Street, Dom Helder Câmara Avenue, João Pinheiro Street, Leopoldina Street, Silvana Street and Goiás Street.

Drivers are advised to avoid the event area, due to the number of closed roads, traffic conditions will be altered on the days of the event;
It is important that everyone pays attention to the instructions of traffic officers and all signage installed in the area;
Using public transport, such as the subway and the Supervia train, is the best option for getting to the event.
