  • CET-Rio is implementing traffic operations for roadworks in Realengo and downtown Rio starting this Wednesday.

CET-Rio will implement a traffic operation to facilitate macro-drainage works by the Rio-Águas Foundation in Realengo, in the West Zone. Starting at 10 PM this Wednesday (April 8th), Cardoso Martins Street will be completely closed, always from 10 PM to 5 AM the following day. The road is expected to reopen at 5 AM on Friday (April 10th), upon completion of the works. The interventions are part of the PAC Realengo project, which carries out works against flooding in the neighborhood.

CET-Rio agents and traffic operators will be positioned on site to guide drivers and pedestrians, as well as to maintain traffic flow. Specific signage will be installed throughout the area to alert drivers to the traffic changes.

CET-Rio technicians at the Rio Operations Center (COR-Rio) will monitor traffic using cameras, with the possibility of adjusting traffic light programming if necessary. Drivers are advised to avoid the affected area if possible, prioritize using alternative routes, and pay attention to signage and instructions from traffic officers.

Roadworks on Rua da Carioca will alter traffic in the city center starting this Wednesday.

CET-Rio will implement a traffic plan starting this Wednesday (April 8th) to enable urban redevelopment works on Rua da Carioca, in the city center, including the Rua da Cerveja project. The interventions, expected to last approximately 60 days, will occupy one lane on the right side of the road, with continuous closure (24 hours) in the section between Largo da Carioca and Rua Ramalho Ortigão, and closure from 1 pm to 5 am, between Rua Ramalho Ortigão and Avenida República do Paraguai.

Starting at 13 PM, as an alternative route, drivers can use Avenida República do Chile or Avenida República do Paraguai to access the Castle.

Traffic officers will be on site to guide drivers and ensure smooth traffic flow. Technicians from CET-Rio, at the Operations and Resilience Center (COR-Rio), will monitor traffic via cameras, with the possibility of making operational adjustments if necessary.

Drivers are advised to avoid the affected area, seek alternative routes, and pay attention to signage and instructions from traffic officers.
