CET-Rio is implementing a traffic operation for the Chá da Alice and Bloco da Lexa parades on the Preta Gil Circuit in downtown Rio.

CET-Rio has set up a special traffic operation to ensure the road safety of revelers who will participate in the mega-blocks Chá da Alice, at 8 am this Saturday (January 24), and Bloco da Lexa, which parades at 8 am on Sunday (January 25), in the Preta Gil Street Block Circuit, in the Center.
The operation, on both days, will begin at 5:00 AM with the closure of several streets in the city center, such as Rua da Imprensa, Rua Alfândega, Rua Buenos Aires, Rua Rosário, Rua Ouvidor, Rua Sete de Setembro, Rua Assembleia, Rua Santa Luzia, and Avenida Nilo Peçanha and Avenida Churchill. Rua Primeiro de Março and Avenida Presidente Antônio Carlos and Avenida Almirante Barroso will be closed at 5:30 AM. Parking will be prohibited on more than 30 streets starting at 11:00 PM on Friday (January 23). The streets are expected to reopen to traffic at 1:00 PM.
The operational plan will involve agents from CET-Rio (Rio de Janeiro's traffic management company), the Municipal Guard, and traffic support personnel, as well as operational vehicles and motorcycles dedicated to traffic guidance. The operation will also include variable message signs providing information about closure times and alternative routes.
CET-Rio technicians at the Operations and Resilience Center (COR-Rio) will monitor all traffic movement through cameras so that, if necessary, adjustments can be made to the traffic light schedule to ensure good road conditions.
Recommendations
For those with scheduled appointments, such as flights at Santos Dumont Airport and trips at the Novo Rio Bus Terminal, the recommendation is to travel in advance. Preferably use public transportation, such as the metro and train, as these modes of transport have high capacity and are not directly impacted by road closures.
