  • CET-Rio implements traffic operation for Corpus Christi religious event in downtown Rio.
The Rio de Janeiro Traffic Engineering Company (CET-Rio) will carry out a special traffic operation for the Corpus Christi religious event, which takes place this Thursday (06/04), in the city center.
To make the event possible, which will involve the creation of handcrafted carpets and a procession, several roads will be closed and parking will be prohibited. The road closures will begin at 10 pm this Wednesday (June 3rd) on República do Chile and Almirante Barroso avenues, where the carpets will be set up.

To minimize traffic impacts and guide drivers during the event, CET-Rio and Municipal Guard agents will be working on-site. The teams will work to ensure road safety, traffic flow, and keep intersections clear, as well as guide drivers and pedestrians.

CET-Rio technicians will monitor all traffic movement at the Operations and Resilience Center (COR-Rio) using cameras and may make adjustments to the traffic light programming, if necessary, in order to ensure good traffic flow. The bus terminal stops on Avenida República do Chile will be suspended in both directions on Thursday (June 4th) from midnight to 11 pm.
