The area around Maracanã will be closed for the Fla-Flu classic in the Brazilian Championship

Traffic around Maracanã stadium will be closed - Archive/ Rio City Hall CET-Rio has set up a special traffic plan for the match between Flamengo and Fluminense, which will take place this Saturday (11/11), at 18:30 pm, at Maracanã, for the Brazilian Championship. To accommodate the event, several roads around the stadium will be closed:
From 15:30 am to 22:30 am:
– Prof. Eurico Rabelo Street;
– Viscount of Itamarati Street, between São Francisco Xavier and Prof. Eurico Rabelo streets;
– Isidro de Figueiredo Street;
– Counselor Olegário Street;
– Artur Menezes Street;
– Maracanã Avenue, in both directions, between São Francisco Xavier Street and Rei Pelé Avenue;
– Two lanes of Av. Rei Pelé, towards the Center, between Av. Prof. Manoel de Abreu and the Indian Museum;
– Oduvaldo Cozzi Viaduct, at the accesses to Maracanã Avenue;
– Mata Machado Street, between Paula Sousa Avenue and Maracanã Avenue.
From 20:10 am to 22:30 am:
– Professor Manoel de Abreu Avenue, lane towards the Center, between São Francisco Xavier Street and Rei Pelé Avenue;
– Dona Zulmira Street, between Professor Manoel de Abreu Avenue and São Francisco Xavier Street.
Traffic conditions will be monitored for potential impacts, and traffic light times will be adjusted to improve flow on alternative routes and the region's main traffic corridors. The traffic operation will involve 60 people, including CET-Rio agents and contractors, 9 operational vehicles and 12 motorcycles. Nine variable message panels will also be used to inform about the closure times and alternative routes.
Alternative routes
Vehicles must use the following alternative routes:
Coming from the Center and South Zone
– To Tijuca: use the route of Av. Paulo de Frontin and Dr. Satamini Street or follow the Praça da Bandeira, Pará Street / Paraíba Street and Mariz e Barros Street;
– For Vila Isabel and Grajaú: use the routes above and then Rua Major Ávila and Rua Felipe Camarão;
– For the Greater Méier region: use the Visconde de Niterói Street route.
Coming from Tijuca, Grajaú, Vila Isabel and surrounding areas
– For the Center and the South Zone: use the route from Rua Conde de Bonfim to Rua Haddock Lobo.
Coming from Greater Meier
– For the Center and South Zone: use the Rua Visconde de Niterói route.
Residents of the surrounding area
Access for vehicles belonging to residents of the immediate surroundings of Maracanã (Prof. Eurico Rabelo, Visconde de Itamarati, Isidro de Figueiredo, Artur Menezes and Conselheiro Olegário streets) will be made exclusively via Av. Paula Sousa and Prof. Eurico Rabelo Street, upon presentation of proof of residence.
Recommendation
Drivers are advised to avoid passing through the area during the closure times, trying to plan their journeys in advance or using alternative routes.
