The City Hall announces the access, transportation, and operational plan for Global Citizen Live: Rio de Janeiro, at Botafogo Cove.

To reach the location, the public must take one of the two underground passages on Botafogo Beach. The Rio de Janeiro City Hall informs about the special access, transportation, and service plan for Global Citizen Live: Rio de Janeiro, which takes place next Saturday (June 6th) at Botafogo Cove. Access to the event will only be permitted for people who have previously obtained their free tickets, distributed by Global Citizen through its digital platform to participants who have engaged in climate and social actions.
The event will feature performances by Ms. Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, with appearances by YG Marley and Zion Marley, as well as a show by Ludmilla. The expected audience is between 15 and 20 people, including spectators and operational staff.
The stage is located at the tip of Botafogo Bay, near the Argentina Building, and the event area will be fenced off. Public access will be through the gates, which are on the opposite side of the stage, as shown on the map below. Doors open at 14 PM, and the shows are scheduled to begin at 17 PM, ending at 22 PM, according to the organizers.
To reach the location, the public must take one of the two underpasses on Botafogo Beach: one near Rua São Clemente and the other near Rua Farani.
The City Hall recommends that attendees with tickets for the event and professionals involved in the operation use public transportation to reach Botafogo Beach. Access to the event area, in Botafogo Cove, should be via the underpasses, ensuring pedestrian safety, as the surrounding roads will remain open to vehicular traffic.
MetroRio recommends using Botafogo station for travel to and from the event. On Saturday, the system will operate on extended hours, from 5 am to midnight. Line 2 will operate between Pavuna and Botafogo, and lines 1 and 4 will run between Uruguai and Jardim Oceânico. Transfers between lines 1 and 2 can be made at Central do Brasil and Botafogo stations. Those using the metro can access the event area through the underpass in front of Rua São Clemente or continue along Praia de Botafogo to the Rua Farani underpass.
It will also be possible to reach the location by bus, disembarking at one of the stops along Botafogo Beach, near the underpasses. Those opting for taxis or ride-hailing services should disembark at Botafogo Beach and access Enseada via the underpasses.
Services to the public
The organizers of Global Citizen Live: Rio de Janeiro will provide a range of services to ensure the comfort and accessibility of the public during the event. Within the concert area, food and beverage options will be available for purchase. To help the public stay hydrated throughout the program, free drinking water stations will be set up in various areas of the event.
As part of the event's commitment to sustainability, measures will be taken to reduce environmental impact, including recycling and composting points, the use of more sustainable packaging, and actions to decrease the consumption of disposable plastics.
Regarding accessibility, people with hearing impairments will have access to sign language interpretation (Brazilian Sign Language) displayed on screens during the presentations. Interpreters will be available at the entrances and on the accessibility platform, which will also offer audio description for people with visual impairments. People with reduced mobility will have support teams distributed throughout the venue.
Anyone needing support in situations of sensory overload or related to neurodivergence can seek care at any medical post or public service point, where trained teams will be available.
Special operation by the City Hall
The City Hall has put together an integrated operational plan for Global Citizen Live: Rio de Janeiro, with the participation of different municipal agencies. As is the case with major city events, the Operations and Resilience Center (COR-Rio) will be the base of operations. A team of 50 operators will be on duty in the Situation Room, in Cidade Nova, in front of the 104-square-meter video wall, the largest in Latin America. Within COR-Rio, there will be reinforcements from representatives of municipal agencies such as CET-Rio, the Municipal Guard, the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (Seop), and Comlurb, as well as security agencies and public service concessionaires. The teams will be responsible for monitoring, in real time, the movement of the public, traffic conditions, and the actions of municipal agencies throughout the event. The operation will also feature a special layout on the video wall to facilitate monitoring by the teams.
To ensure monitoring of the region, 105 cameras will be installed in Botafogo Bay and surrounding streets, such as Avenida das Nações Unidas, Praia de Botafogo, Avenida Repórter Nestor Moreira, Avenida Pasteur, Rua São Clemente, Rua Voluntários da Pátria, and Rua Nelson Mandela, where the Botafogo Metro station is located. The operation will also have the support of drones in areas without camera coverage.
In the surrounding streets, CET-Rio agents will be guiding drivers and pedestrians to ensure smooth traffic flow and road safety. Traffic conditions will be monitored in real time from COR-Rio, allowing for quick adjustments whenever necessary.
Also in the event area, the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (Seop) will carry out urban planning actions, preventive patrolling, inspection of street vendors, combating the irregular occupation of public space and illegal parking. Approximately 40 agents will work directly on site, with the support of five patrol cars, three tow trucks and two motorcycles.
The Municipal Guard will reinforce its operations with 50 officers deployed throughout the event. The teams will focus on urban security, pedestrian guidance, and traffic management, paying special attention to pedestrian crossings and main traffic flows.
The operation will also include a special cleaning scheme coordinated by Comlurb. The company will mobilize 250 street cleaners and 50 inspection agents to work on pre-cleaning the area, maintenance during the event, and final cleaning after the performances, covering the entire external area and access streets.
Three compactor trucks, four large sweepers, one mini sweeper, two removal tractors, three sanitizing tractors, and one mini sanitizer will be used for cleaning and sifting the sand. Hydraulic cleaning with reused water will be carried out with three water tanker trucks and two vans equipped with a pressure jet system.
To support the proper disposal of waste, the City Hall will provide 300 240-liter containers and 20 high-capacity 1.200-liter containers, distributed throughout the event area.
