City Hall installs plaques in honor of Preta Gil in the city center

CET-Rio completed, this Thursday (24/07), the installation of new signage in the city center in honor of the artist Preta Gil. The location, now officially named by the City of Rio “Circuito Preta Gil”, covers sections of Avenida Presidente Antônio Carlos and Rua Primeiro de Março.

City Hall releases operational plan for Preta Gil's wake at the Municipal Theater

Signage was installed along the streets, reinforcing the recognition and appreciation of the artist's career in the city. Founder of Bloco da Preta in 2009, one of the most important expressions of Rio's Carnival, which attracts millions of people to the streets of downtown Rio, she played a decisive role in the revival of Rio's street Carnival, especially in the area now named in her honor, which has become an urban space for cultural citizenship.
