Vice-President José Alencar Tunnel to be closed for maintenance - Archive/Rio City Hall The Vice-President of the Republic José Alencar Tunnel will be closed, this Thursday (January 15th), in the direction of Barra da Tijuca, from 11 pm to 4 am on Friday (January 16th), for maintenance. Vehicles heading towards Barra da Tijuca will be diverted via Serra da Grota Funda (Avenida Artur Xexéo).
BRT buses heading towards Barra will use the opposite lane. Buses that normally use the lane heading towards Santa Cruz will continue on the common lane used by all vehicles.
The Rebouças Tunnel will be closed from 22 PM to 5 AM, in the direction of Lagoa, for maintenance. During the closure, vehicle traffic will follow a reversible lane to the left in the direction of the city center, operating towards the South Zone. The other two lanes will operate in the direction of the city center.
There will be specific signage to guide and alert drivers. CET-Rio operators will monitor traffic conditions and intervene if necessary. In addition, traffic light timings will be adjusted to improve traffic flow on the detour route and main corridors in the affected areas.
