Vice-President José Alencar Tunnel to be closed for maintenance - Archive/Rio City Hall The Santa Bárbara Tunnel will be closed this Tuesday (November 25th), in the Santo Cristo direction, from 10 PM to 5 AM, for maintenance. The tunnel in the Laranjeiras direction will operate normally. Specific signage will be installed to guide and alert drivers. CET-Rio operators will monitor traffic conditions and act if necessary. Traffic light timings will be adjusted to improve traffic flow on the detour route and on the main corridors in the region.
The Vice-President of the Republic José Alencar Tunnel will be closed in the direction of Santa Cruz, from 23 PM to 4 AM, for maintenance. Vehicles traveling towards Santa Cruz will be diverted via Serra da Grota Funda (Avenida Artur Xexéo).
BRT buses heading towards Santa Cruz will have to use the opposite lane. Buses that normally use the lane, heading towards Barra da Tijuca, will continue on the common lane for all vehicles. CET Rio operators will monitor traffic conditions and act as needed.
