José Alencar Tunnel and overpasses will be closed for maintenance

The lower deck of the Elevado das Bandeiras will be closed for maintenance work - Rio City Hall The Vice-President José Alencar Tunnel will be closed this Thursday (October 16th) in the direction of Barra da Tijuca, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., for maintenance work. Vehicles traveling in the closed direction will be detoured via Serra da Grota Funda (Avenida Artur Xexéo). BRT buses heading towards Barra will travel along the opposite gallery lane. Buses originally traveling along the channel, heading towards Santa Cruz, will continue in the common lane.
The lower deck of the Elevado das Bandeiras will be closed in the direction of São Conrado from 23 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for maintenance. The Barra da Tijuca-São Conrado connection will be via the upper deck.
The Engenheiro Freyssinet (elevated over Avenida Paulo de Frontin) and Rufino Pizarro elevated highways will be closed in the early hours of Friday (10/17), heading towards the South Zone, from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m., for maintenance work. Drivers will be able to use Avenida Paulo de Frontin as an alternative route and then the Rebouças Tunnel.
At all scheduled closures, specific signage will be installed to guide and alert drivers, and CET-Rio operators will monitor traffic conditions and, if necessary, take action. In addition, traffic light times will be adjusted to ensure fluidity on detour routes and on the main corridors in the regions.
The program may be suspended at any time due to weather conditions or operational issues in the city.
