Realengo Park hosts the Carioca Citizenship Fair on Saturday: workshops, cultural and sports activities

The event is part of the Cidadania Carioca program, to raise awareness about civility - Disclosure The Special Secretariat for Citizenship and Family of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (Secid), in partnership with Sesc RJ, will host the Carioca Citizenship Fair #civilidade next Saturday (August 16th) at Realengo Jornalista Susana Naspolini Park in Rio's West Zone. With the theme "Cordel Day," the event will feature educational and cultural activities for all ages, such as planting workshops, braiding, ecobags, rap, passinho dance battles, body awareness, storytelling, and board games. Additionally, the Municipal Health Department will offer vaccinations, and the Transportation Department will conduct registration in Jaé. There will also be a Secid tent featuring the Armazém de Cidadania project, where guidance on the Gov.br account and the #civilidade campaign will be provided. Admission is free and the fair will run from 08:10 am to 17:XNUMX pm.
The Carioca Citizenship Fair #civilidade is part of the Rio City Hall's Carioca Citizenship program, which aims to develop projects, integrated with other municipal public policies, that contribute to raising awareness of the pillars of citizenship and the basic rules for living in society. By the end of this year, other parks in the city will host monthly editions of the fair with specific themes that address the concepts of civility and citizenship. Editions are planned for Parque Carioca da Pavuna in September, with the theme "International Peace Day," and at Quinta da Boa Vista in October, to celebrate Children's Day. In November, the fair will take place in Parque Oeste with the theme "World Kindness Day," and in December in Parque Madureira with the theme "Universal Declaration of Human Rights Day."
"The fair allows the public to have fun and at the same time learn and reflect on the concepts of citizenship, such as our rights and duties, living in society, and the maintenance of public spaces and assets," explains Rio de Janeiro's Secretary of Citizenship and Family, Otoni de Paula Filho.
PROGRAMME
Small space planting workshop
Participants will learn how to identify, cultivate, and care for different plant species, with practical guidance for planting in small spaces, such as home gardens and pots. The program encourages sustainable habits in the home environment, promoting respect for nature and a healthy lifestyle. Each participant will be able to take home a seedling.
Game of citizenship and civility in traffic
Interactive activities that use playful elements to promote education on rights, duties, and civility in traffic. As participants progress through the squares on the board, they explore fundamental concepts of citizenship, reflecting on how to contribute to safer, more participatory, and inclusive spaces.
Craft workshop with recyclable materials
It invites participants to explore techniques for making fashion accessories such as earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. The focus is on developing manual skills, encouraging creative expression, and valuing artisanal work as a form of culture and identity. Priority will be given to recyclable materials, contributing to environmental awareness, the basics of entrepreneurship, and income generation.
Body awareness workshop for elderly people (10am, 12pm and 14pm)
This workshop promotes dialogue between generations and values the exchange of experiences. The activity encourages self-awareness and body care, using gentle movements, stretching, and breathing exercises that respect individual limits.
Rap and Slam of Citizenship (13pm, 15pm and 18pm)
It proposes the creation of narrated poems and improvised rap as paths to personal and civic development. Through music, poetry, and the body, young people are invited to reflect on their rights, their roles in society, and their possibilities for building a future with greater civility, respect, and a healthy life.
Storytelling and reading mediation
Priority will be given to intergenerational stories and books that appeal to the whole family and address issues of respect for others, citizenship, and human rights.
Nerd Arena
With a setting that encompasses a wide variety of games, it features demonstrations of the science, technology, and dynamics of board games—different types of board games—where the audience can interact, learn, and discover interesting facts.
Intergenerational scavenger hunt
A playful and collaborative activity that brings together different generations in a respectful coexistence experience. Through cooperative games, creativity challenges, and light physical activities, participants are encouraged to develop empathy, strengthen family and community ties, and practice values such as solidarity and inclusion.
Sports recreation
Programming focused on individual or team sports, such as soccer, volleyball, badminton, among other sports.
4-hand canvas exchange workshop
The activity uses the Monica's Gang magazine "What happened in the lemon tree?" to address, in a playful and interactive way, topics such as mental health and conscious use of screens.

Campaign: paths of respect
The campaign invites everyone to reflect on what it means to be a citizen, to know their rights, fulfill their duties, and, above all, to respect others regardless of their differences. With informative and interactive graphic materials, the activity will emphasize the culture of mutual respect.
Most Wonderful City Campaign
Anyone who participates in an event workshop, accesses the QR Code and completes an event satisfaction survey will receive an Eco Cup, a tote bag or an educational magazine from Turma da Mônica.
