Inspection takes into account the Consumer Protection Code - Marcos de Paula / Rio City Hall Procon Carioca, an agency linked to the Special Secretariat for Citizenship, has signed a technical and operational cooperation agreement with ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels). Joint or separate inspection activities are planned by Procon agents, on behalf of ANP, with a view to educating and guiding agents in the sector, as well as preventing and repressing conduct that violates the law; implementing an information exchange system to make the regulation and inspection of these companies more efficient and effective; among other activities.
The agreement also provides for the provision by ANP of training and information for the development of inspection activities, as well as material for collecting fuel samples and a model of the inspection document to be completed in the actions. The administrative proceedings will be judged preserving the jurisdiction of each agency.
In combating irregularities in the fuel market, the ANP acts individually or in cooperation with other government agencies, through the signing of technical and operational cooperation agreements, joint actions and task forces.
The ANP has agreements with Weights and Measures Institutes, Procons, Finance Departments and the Public Prosecutor's Office in several states of the Federation. The executive director of the Municipal Institute for Consumer Protection and Defense (Procon Carioca), Igor Costa, highlights the relevance of the agreement for the municipality.
– It is important for Rio that Procon Carioca establishes another partnership with the regulatory agency (ANS and ANP) and the Federal Government so that, with this additional technical support and collaborative operations, we can further expand actions in defense of consumer rights.
