Procon Carioca participates in the launch of the project “Be aware that it is fraud”

Procon Carioca, TIM and OAB-RJ participate in the project that informs and educates consumers against fraud and scams applied by telephone - Disclosure/ Procon Carioca

Procon Carioca, the Consumer Defense Commission of the OAB-RJ (Brazilian Bar Association) and the telephone company TIM are promoting, this Thursday (5/12), the launch of the project “Se liga que é fraude” (Beware that it is fraud), created by the company, to inform and educate users on how to protect themselves from scams. The event will be held in the auditorium of the Escola Superior da Advocacia (ESA), at Av. Marechal Câmara, 210, 8th floor, in the city center, at 15 pm.

– One of the bases of Procon Carioca’s activities are actions aimed at consumer education. Initiatives such as “Se Liga que é Fraude” (Beware of Fraud) provide consumers with information so that they are alert to identify scams, fraud and financial traps – said Renata Ruback, executive director of Procon Carioca.

The project “Beware of Fraud” was created with the aim of sharing how the main scams applied to telephone customers happen and how to avoid them. To this end, TIM has created a guide that maps out the most common situations and offers essential guidelines so that consumers are always vigilant.

– Education is our greatest ally in preventing fraud. By training users, we are also protecting their families and friends. The booklet is available in print and online on the TIM website and covers topics such as spoofing, SMS and WhatsApp fraud – explained Liliam Lopes, CX & Ombudsman Executive at TIM Brasil.

In addition, the booklet provides tips on how to protect your smartphone and guidelines to follow in case of theft, robbery or loss of your cell phone. The initiative has the support of the TIM Users Council, of which Procon Carioca is a member, and other members will also be present. In addition to company employees, members of the Municipal Institute for Consumer Protection and Defense (Condecon) were invited to the launch of the project.
