Another urban order operation by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, through the Jacarepaguá Subprefecture and the Municipal Secretariat of Public Order, was carried out on Tuesday morning (July 21st). The action took place on Estrada dos Bandeirantes, under the Linha Amarela viaduct, in Gardênia Azul and on Avenida Antonieta Campos da Paz, in Pechincha. In total, 18 tents, which served as points for drug consumption and housing, were dismantled. In addition to the structures, 103 sharp objects were seized, including 43 knives, 5 saws, 4 hammers and a chisel. Three tablets and three cell phones were also found in the operation.

The intervention was prompted by complaints from residents about the accumulation of garbage on the sidewalks and the feeling of insecurity when walking in those areas. In total, approximately 30 tons of debris and waste were removed by Comlurb.

The operation was supported by teams from the Municipal Guard and the BRT Seguro program.

Every week, the Jacarepaguá Subprefecture carries out these operations in the region. Subprefect Igor Augusto emphasizes the importance of the frequency of these actions and the order they maintain on the streets.

"Citizens need to feel safe and have space when walking on the sidewalks. We will always work to guarantee the right of the population to come and go freely and to organize public space," declared the deputy mayor.
