Vaccination
The Rio City Hall, through the Municipal Health Department, began on Monday, October 05, the Polio Vaccination and Multivaccination campaigns to update the Child and Adolescent Health Record. Vaccines will be available at the 237 Primary Health Care Units in the city, from 8 am to 17 pm.
Following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, the National Vaccination Campaign against Polio and Multivaccination to Update the Vaccination Records of Children and Adolescents up to 14 years of age will be held between October 5th and 31st. On Saturday, the 17th, efforts will be reinforced on the National Mobilization Day.
The polio vaccination campaign is aimed at children under 5 years of age, regardless of the number of doses they have already received against polio. Multivaccination is aimed at all children aged 0 to 14 years, 11 months and 29 days.
On this occasion, vaccination records should be evaluated to update any overdue doses, in accordance with the schemes recommended by the National Immunization Program (PNI).
During this same period, the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro will also implement the Intensification Strategy against Measles, including the indiscriminate vaccination of the population aged 15 to 49 in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro.
All vaccines updated in a single day
The campaigns aim to guarantee protection against various diseases that can be prevented through vaccines, contributing to their control and even elimination, expanding coverage throughout the country.
Mobilization is a strategy to make the vaccination schedule update available in a single visit to the health unit, facilitating access by parents or guardians to public health services.
The Rio City Hall emphasizes that all routine vaccines can be found in the 237 primary care units. The Municipal Health Department emphasizes the importance of immunization, especially for children in the first years of life.
SMS maintained vaccination strategy during the pandemic
During the actions to combat the novel coronavirus developed by the City of Rio, the Municipal Health Department created a series of strategies to immunize the population. For the national flu vaccination campaign, for example, there were actions such as drive-thru vaccination (at Detran stations) and at home, in addition to offering vaccination at network stations with safety and precautionary measures. More than two million people were immunized against the flu during the campaign.
The Rio City Hall emphasizes the importance of immunization, especially for children in the first years of life. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that the SMS adopts all measures to ensure that the population attends health units safely, without the risk of contamination by Covid-19.
