- The Red June campaign draws attention to the importance of blood donation.
With the goal of reinforcing supplies and saving lives, municipal hospitals are mobilizing volunteers - Edu Kapps / SMS Municipal hospitals are reinforcing the "Red June" campaign throughout this month, which draws attention to the importance of blood donation, an act capable of saving lives. The goal is to encourage volunteers to adopt a routine of donating, since supplying blood banks is fundamental for care in the public health system.
The campaign, which began last week at the Souza Aguiar Hospital in the city center, includes two more intensive mobilizations: blood drives will be held on the 25th at the Mariska Ribeiro Women's Hospital in Bangu, from 10 am to 14 pm, and on the 30th at the Salgado Filho Hospital in Méier, from 10 am to 15 pm. The initiative is a partnership with Hemorio, responsible for supplying blood products to more than 200 public hospitals in Rio de Janeiro, especially in emergency situations.
Blood donation is a simple and safe act. To be a donor, you must be between 16 and 69 years old (those under 18 must have authorization from a guardian), be in good health, weigh more than 50 kilos, and be well-rested. Fasting is not necessary, but it is recommended that you do not eat fatty foods in the four hours prior to donation.
