Comlurb remains present at all points of the Rio Carnival festivities this weekend of pre-Carnival 2026, with a differentiated cleaning plan for the 37 official street parties and the technical rehearsals of the Special Group samba schools. The special operation includes the work of street cleaners at all points of concentration of revelers, before, during and after each event. On Saturday (January 31st), the main attractions will be the mega-block Bloco da Gold Vem com o Gigante, with the Bahian singer Léo Santana, which will parade on the Preta Gil circuit, in the city center, starting at 7 am; the Desliga da Justiça block, which will gather at 8 am in Praça Tiradentes; and the Spanta Neném block, which will parade from 10 am on Avenida Epitácio Pessoa, in Lagoa.

On Sunday (February 1st), in addition to the mega-block Será Q Abre, led by singer Ivete Sangalo, which takes to the Preta Gil Circuit starting at 7 am, there are other highlights, such as the Maravilhosas block, which gathers from 8 am at Avenida Vieira Souto 594, in Ipanema; the Vira-Lata block, which departs from 10 am at Avenida Prefeito Mendes de Morais 808, in São Conrado; and the Me Esquece block, which gathers from 9 am at Rua Pacheco Leão, 20, in Jardim Botânico. On both days, there will also be special attention to cleaning the exterior and access areas of the Samba Parade during the technical rehearsals of the samba schools.

Comlurb's cleaning operation is carried out before, during, and after each Carnival parade and event. The work is done not only on the main streets where the parades take place, but also throughout the surrounding area, including access streets and adjacent streets, with services such as mechanized sweeping; washing with reused water, soap, and eucalyptus essence; emptying of litter bins and containers; and collection and removal of waste.

Comlurb's cleaning service will extend until the last day of the festivities, Sunday, February 22nd, marked by the passage of Monobloco in the Preta Gil Circuit. The total workforce throughout the entire period, from the pre-Carnival events onwards, will reach 13.714 workers, including 9.736 street cleaners.

Comlurb will provide the largest number of containers for event services in the city, with 13 units, including 10 with a 240-liter capacity and 3 high-capacity containers with a 1.200-liter capacity, so that revelers can properly dispose of their waste.

During Carnival 2026, Comlurb will carry out the largest hydraulic and mechanized cleaning operation in the city's history. Throughout the street Carnival, the company will have 1.507 vehicles, including compactor trucks, satellite trucks, dump trucks, electric carts, large sweepers, mini sweepers, and tractors. There will also be 180 leaf blowers. All vehicles and equipment will work in three shifts.

After the parade floats pass, Comlurb teams will perform hydraulic cleaning using reused water and 40 liters of soap. This will involve 30 water tanker trucks, 26 vans with hydraulic cleaning equipment, and 5 trucks with hydraulic cleaning equipment. Following the washing, eucalyptus essence will be applied using 125 backpack sprayers, including in areas with portable toilets. A total of 5 liters of concentrated essence will be used throughout the Carnival period.

Comlurb will also be responsible for cleaning the four medical posts set up in the area where the carnival groups parade, two in the Preta Gil Circuit in the city center, one in Praça do Lido, and one in Praça Nossa Senhora da Paz in Ipanema.

It is worth noting that all routine services of the Company will be maintained normally in the city throughout the pre-Carnival and Carnival period.
