CET-Rio sets up a special traffic plan in the South Zone and Center for the RJ Half Marathon

A special traffic plan will come into operation starting this Friday (11/10), on streets in the Center and South Zone, for the RJ 21K Half Marathon. For the sporting event scheduled for Saturday (12/10), traffic closures, parking bans and indications of alternative routes for drivers are planned.

The parking ban in the area begins at 18:3 p.m. on Friday. The main closures will be in place from midnight on Saturday, such as on the lanes at Aterro do Flamengo and on the Leblon waterfront. The other roads will be closed from 7:18 a.m. onwards. The reversible lane that is in place on holidays on Avenida Atlântica, on the lane next to the buildings, will be implemented and demobilized at its usual time, from XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. on Saturday.

The race will start at 5:30 a.m. on Delfim Moreira Avenue, near Jardim de Alah, in Leblon. The athletes will continue along Vieira Souto Avenue, Francisco Otaviano Street, Atlantic Avenue, Princess Isabel Avenue, Botafogo Bay, Aterro do Flamengo, General Justo Avenue and Alfred Agache Avenue, where they will return to the Aterro. The race will end at Aterro do Flamengo, near Cuauhtemoc Square.

The traffic operation will involve 180 people, including employees at CET-Rio, municipal guards and traffic supporters, who will work to maintain fluidity, prevent illegal parking, organize intersections, guide pedestrians and drivers, in addition to carrying out blockades throughout the entire period of the sporting event.

Traffic conditions will be monitored for potential impacts and traffic signal timings will be adjusted to improve flow on alternative routes and major traffic corridors in the region. Nine variable message boards will be used to provide information on traffic conditions, road closures and detour routes.

– Avenida Lauro Sodré, two lanes on the left of the traffic lane, between the Pasmado Tunnel and the intersection with Rua General Góes Monteiro, towards Copacabana

INVERSION OF SENSE

From 3h to 8h

– Joaquim Nabuco Street, between Our Lady of Copacabana Avenue and Raul Pompéia Street, which will now have the direction of traffic from Raul Pompéia Street to Our Lady of Copacabana Avenue

 

ACCESS TO LEME AND URCA

To minimize the impacts of road interventions and make access to Leme and Urca viable, reversible lanes will be implemented on Avenidas Princesa Isabel, Lauro Sodré and Venceslau Brás.

 

Vehicles must travel the following route on Saturday (12/10), from 5 am to 9 am

– Vehicles heading to Leme: Avenida Princesa Isabel (in reversible lane); Engenheiro Coelho Cintra Tunnel (in reversible lane); Avenida Lauro Sodré (in reversible lane); on the left at the access ramp to Rua General Severiano, next to Praça Engenheiro Bernardo Saião (Morro do Pasmado), Rua General Severiano; on the right at Praça Ozanan; on the right at Avenida Venceslau Brás (in reversible lane); Avenida Lauro Sodré (in reversible lane); Engenheiro Marques Porto Tunnel (in reversible lane); Avenida Princesa Isabel (in reversible lane); on the left at Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana.

– Vehicles heading to Urca: Avenida Princesa Isabel (in reversible lane); Engenheiro Coelho Cintra Tunnel (in reversible lane); Avenida Lauro Sodré (in reversible lane); on the left at the access road to Rua General Severiano, next to Praça Engenheiro Bernardo Saião (Morro do Pasmado), Rua General Severiano; on the right at Praça Ozanan; on the left at Avenida Venceslau Brás; on the right at Avenida Pasteur.

 

PARKING BAN

From 18pm on Friday (11/10) to 14pm on Saturday (12/10):

In addition to the prohibitions already regulated, parking will be prohibited on the following roads:

– Our Lady of Copacabana Avenue, along the left side of the road, between Figueiredo de Magalhães Street and Princesa Isabel Avenue

– Rua Francisco Otaviano, left side of the road, between Avenida Vieira Souto and Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana

 

IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS

– Pedestrians must cross at the locations indicated by the guidance signs or by the half marathon guides.

– Drivers are advised to avoid driving in the race area. Due to the number of closed roads, traffic conditions will be affected throughout Saturday morning.

– Respect places where parking is prohibited

– Everyone must pay attention to the instructions of traffic agents and all signs installed in the area.
