- Cidade das Artes prepares special programming for Children's Month
The program includes pagode music with a live broadcast of the Brazil game - Press Release To celebrate Children's Month, Cidade das Artes has prepared a special program with shows and activities for children. Rio's largest cultural complex is also a great opportunity to celebrate with family and enjoy, free of charge, the children's playground, the largest Lego model in Latin America featuring 25 relevant icons of the Marvelous City, the Municipal Library with over 7,000 titles, and the Morrinho project model, which represents the favela landscape using bricks and other recyclable materials.
The attractions will kick off with plenty of adventure on the first weekend of October, when the Great Hall hosts unique performances of "Pilar's Diary in Greece" (October 4th) and "Pilar's Diary in the Amazon" (October 5th). The Ziraldo Municipal Library opens its doors on Sunday (October 5th) for the musical storytelling "Sambalelê goes to Mestre André's store" – an interactive activity where musical instruments, props, and puppets are available to participants.
From October 9th to 12th, the National Ballet of China, one of the most prestigious dance companies in the world, takes to the stage of the Great Hall with more than 60 dancers and transforms Tchaikovsky's Christmas classic "The Nutcracker" into a grand celebration of the Chinese New Year.
On Children's Day weekend, the show "The Little Prince" will be presented at the Electroacoustic Room in two sessions on Saturday (10/11) and Sunday (10/12). The Ziraldo Municipal Library will host the book launch and screening of the short film "The Boy in the Cardboard Box" on Sunday (10/12), followed by a pocket show (voice and guitar) with songs from the film.
The celebrations for children and young people continue on Saturday (October 18) and Sunday (October 19) with the show "A Mágica" (The Magic), by actor and illusionist Gabriel Montenegro. A program for the whole family, where the audience can experience moments of pure magic with more than 30 new and revolutionary magic tricks.
The City of Arts is located at Avenida das Américas, 5.300, in Barra da Tijuca, and is open to the public from Monday to Sunday, from 10 am to 19 pm.
