City has two new Michelin-starred restaurants

The city of Rio de Janeiro has two more restaurants awarded with the famous Michelin Stars, consolidating its position as a national and international gastronomic destination. The edition of the Michelin Guide Rio de Janeiro & São Paulo 2025 awarded, this Monday (12/05) the restaurants Casa 201 and Oseille with one star each, and renewed the two stars won by Lasai and Oro in 2024. In total, the city of Rio currently has eight “starred” restaurants, as the jargon of the segment says.

– The Michelin Guide has crowned two more restaurants in Rio de Janeiro and confirmed the quality of Rio de Janeiro's chefs. This is yet another reason for tourists to visit our city, which, in addition to being the most beautiful in the world, has an intense cultural life. Gastronomy is a prominent sector in Rio, which has more than 4 bars and restaurants to suit all tastes -, said Rio's vice mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, who attended the award ceremony alongside the municipal secretary of Tourism, Daniela Maia.

The oldest and most important award in world gastronomy, the awarding of Michelin stars returned to Brazil in 2024 after a 12-year hiatus, thanks to an initiative supported by the City of Rio de Janeiro, through the Municipal Department of Tourism, and the City of São Paulo, the city that hosted the 2025 ceremony. In 2026, the award ceremony will once again be held in Rio.

– Rio closes this ceremony with a flourish. There are two new Michelin Star restaurants and this is fundamental, the result of the work we have done with great commitment and dedication to present Rio -, stated the Secretary of Tourism, Daniela Maia.

Renowned chefs and authorities from the Brazilian tourism trade also participated in the awards ceremony.

The Michelin Guide 2025 includes four new Rio de Janeiro establishments in the “Recommended” category: Babbo Osteria, Ocyá Ilha, Quinta da Henriqueta and Rufino Parrilha. Oteque, Cipriani, Mee and San Omasaque continue with one star. In total, Rio has 30 recommended restaurants and seven “Bib Gourmands”, a category that rewards the best quality/price ratio.
