The COR Situation Room sign will be illuminated with the color corresponding to the city's current situation - Rio City Hall The Rio Operations Center (COR) inaugurated the new LED sign in the Situation Room on Monday (20/3). The inscription “Centro de Operações Prefeitura do Rio”, located on the 104 m² video wall, now follows the color of the city's operational stage at that time. The new color replaces the white color used in the inscription since the inauguration of the COR in 2010.
Rio de Janeiro has five operational stages: Normality (green), Mobilization (gray), Attention (yellow), Alert (red) and Crisis (purple). The goal of the change is to make operators and servers working on site increasingly integrated with possible changes in the city's stage. The investment cost almost nothing, since the previous panel was used. After maintenance, LED strips were installed, which allows the color to be changed in each of the stages.
– The change seems simple, but it can quickly inform anyone who comes to COR about the current situation in the city. It is worth remembering that the change in the operational stage is not only linked to rainy events – highlights COR’s chief executive, Marcus Belchior.
The city of Rio de Janeiro changed its stage 321 times between January 1, 2021 and March 12, 2023. It is extremely important that the population stays informed about the city's operational stages and follows the recommendations of the Operations Center and the Municipal Civil Defense. The information is available on the COR app and website (cor.rio) and on social media @OperacoesRio.
