The Rio de Janeiro City Hall's "D-Day" vaccination campaign reached the mark of 68.391 doses of immunizations administered in the municipality this Saturday (August 22nd). In total, there were more than 400 service points available throughout the city, including extra vaccination stations in strategic locations such as squares, residents' associations, churches, shopping malls, and schools. Despite the focus on immunizing young people aged 0 to 15, the campaign was an opportunity to update the vaccination records of adults.

All vaccines included in the National Immunization Schedule remain available at Primary Care units, according to the age range stipulated by national guidelines and the vaccination status of each patient. Among the vaccines available for children are BCG, hepatitis A and B, pentavalent, polio (IPV), rotavirus, pneumococcal, meningococcal C, yellow fever, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), varicella, DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), influenza, and COVID-19. For adolescents, vaccines against HPV (9 to 19 years), meningococcal ACWY (11 to 14 years), dengue (10 to 14 years), and influenza are available.

The Municipal Health Department (SMS) recommends that adults up to 59 years old who have not been vaccinated with the MMR vaccine – which protects against measles, mumps, and rubella – seek out one of the more than 240 Primary Care units to reinforce their immunization. Residents of Rio de Janeiro can visit family clinics, municipal health centers, and the Super Centro Carioca de Vacinação units in Botafogo (open daily from 8 am to 22 pm), in the West Zone (at ParkShoppingCampoGrande, following the shopping mall's operating hours), and in the North Zone (Shopping Nova América).
