The result of an initiative that emerged at Web Summit Rio, the program will offer a two-week immersion experience in Vienna, with airfare, accommodation and a personalized agenda with investors, accelerators and potential European partners.
Fabíola Maranhão, CEO of Delta Entech and responsible for the winning pitch, expressed her excitement at seeing an opportunity like this aimed at startups in Rio.
– It’s always very motivating to have opportunities like this, especially for startups from Rio. It was quite challenging, but also very inspiring for us. I’m very happy to have won this award. I’m very grateful to the organizers and Vienna Business for this opportunity – said Fabíola.
Of the 60 startups that signed up for the Road to Web Summit — an initiative by Maravalley —, six were selected by the Vienna Business Agency to present their pitches to seven judges, who represented the companies involved in the program. Among these startups, Delta Entech was chosen to participate in the Vienna Startup Package.
According to Christian Frey, Director of International Business at Vienna Business Agency, the main objective is to discover the most innovative ideas among Rio's startups and strengthen Vienna's ecosystem.
– We came to Rio de Janeiro to offer the Vienna Startup Package to the winner — in this case, Delta Entech — to learn what Rio’s strong technological base, its qualified human capital and spin-offs can bring to Austria, and how we can incorporate this innovation into our own ecosystem. I believe this is the most important thing – explained Christian Frey.
The initiative is the result of a joint effort between Vienna and Rio de Janeiro to foster the exchange of technological solutions and expand internationalization opportunities for innovative companies.
According to Sidney Levy, President of Invest.Rio, the partnership marks an important step in building solid bridges between Rio's innovation ecosystem and strategic international hubs.
– We believe that innovation has no borders, and this partnership with the Vienna Business Agency is a concrete example of how Rio can connect with the world’s leading technology hubs. This initiative reinforces Invest.Rio’s commitment to creating concrete pathways for Rio de Janeiro companies to reach the international market. By bringing Rio de Janeiro’s innovation ecosystem closer to global hubs like Vienna, we are expanding borders. Working together also strengthens connections to attract more investment to our city – highlighted Sidney.
