  • The Carioca School of Tourism opens two new classes for guide training.
This project is exclusively for professionals registered with Cadastur.

Registration is open for two new classes at the Escola Carioca de Turismo (Carioca School of Tourism), a project of the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Tourism Secretariat (SMTUR-RIO) now in its fourth phase, focused exclusively on training tour guides. Developed in partnership with Senac RJ (National Service for Commercial Learning – Rio de Janeiro Regional), the project offers 40 new places – 20 for each class – with classes scheduled to begin on April 8th and 15th.

The course is free, and to obtain professional certification, it is necessary to complete all six offered subjects: Hospital Care, Social Media Strategies, Photography with a Cell Phone, First Steps to Entrepreneurship, Next Steps to Entrepreneurship: Structuring and Management, and Basic First Aid. Classes take place at the Copacabana and Faculdade (Santa Luzia) units of Senac RJ, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 18 PM to 22 PM.

To register, guides must be registered with Cadastur – the Ministry of Tourism's Registry of Tourism Service Providers – and be residents of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Registration is open and can be done on the SMTUR-RIO website: https://turismo.prefeitura.rio/escolacariocadeturismo/.

The fourth phase of the Carioca School of Tourism began in October 2025, offering a total of 200 places. Since then, 80 students have already completed four classes, and the expectation is that the remaining 120 places will be filled throughout this year. The two classes starting in April are the first of 2026.

The Carioca School of Tourism began in 2022 and, since then, in three different phases, has certified 2.143 students in various disciplines focused on professional training and qualification in the sector, such as languages, event organization, hotel reception and protocol, among others. The courses took place in different Senac units throughout the city.
