Operational plan for Alzirão 2026 will include road closures on days when Brazil plays.

The road closures will take place on June 13, 19, and 24. The Rio de Janeiro City Hall announced, this Friday (June 12th), the operational plan for broadcasting the Brazilian national team's World Cup matches at Alzirão 2026. Road closures will occur on the days of Brazil's matches, at the same location where, for 48 years, celebrations have taken place that bring together thousands of fans in the North Zone.
On June 13th and 24th, CET-Rio will close sections of Alzira Brandão Street (between Eduardo Ramos Street and Conde de Bonfim Street) and Conde de Bonfim Street (between Marquês de Valença Street and Valparaíso Street), Araújos Street (at the access to Conde de Bonfim Street), as well as the entire length of Rego Lopes Street from 15 PM to 23:59 PM. On June 19th, the closure will be from 16 PM to 1 AM on June 20th. In addition to the road closures, parking will be prohibited, as indicated by signage, on Conde de Bonfim, Alzira Brandão, and Marquês de Valença Streets.
The COR-Rio (Operations and Resilience Center) will monitor the festivities with the support of a drone and 31 cameras around Rua Alzira Brandão. The equipment will assist in monitoring traffic flow, from roadblocks to access roads, urban management, and rapid response to incidents during the Brazilian national team's games.
To maintain order, the Public Order Secretariat will deploy 32 agents divided into six teams, from 7:00 AM until the event disperses, in the surrounding streets. The Municipal Guard will have 65 agents conducting preventative patrols in the area.
RioLuz installed five power switches to supply power to stages, screens, security booths, and a first-aid station, in addition to reinforcing the venue's lighting with the installation of 20 projectors.
Transit
The traffic plan will involve CET-Rio agents, municipal guards, and traffic support personnel, as well as signage and operational vehicles dedicated to guiding traffic.
The action aims to promote road safety, traffic flow, and the maintenance of clear intersections, as well as to guide drivers, pedestrians, and fans.
CET-Rio technicians, at the Operations and Resilience Center (COR-Rio), will monitor all traffic movement through cameras so that, if necessary, adjustments can be made to the traffic light schedule to ensure good road conditions.
Period: June 13th and 24th, from 15 PM to 23:59 PM, and on June 19th, from 16 PM to 1 AM on June 20th, on the following streets:
– Rua Conde de Bonfim, between Rua Marquês de Valença and Rua Valparaíso;
– Rego Lopes Street, along its entire length;
– Rua dos Araújos, at the entrance to Rua Conde de Bonfim;
– Alzira Brandão Street, between Eduardo Ramos Street and Conde de Bonfim Street.
Parking ban
Period: from 6:00 AM on June 12th and 23rd to 11:59 PM on the following day, and from 6:00 AM on June 18th to 1:00 AM on June 20th.

Detour
Vehicles coming from Rua Conde de Bonfim should follow Rua Marquês de Valença, Rua Pereira de Siqueira, Rua São Francisco Xavier and Rua Haddock Lobo.
Transportation
Due to road changes, bus lines 220, 229, 301, 302, SN302, 409, 410, SN410, 415, SN415, 416, 426 and 607 will have their routes diverted, passing through Marquês de Valença, Pereira de Siqueira, São Francisco Xavier and Haddock Lobo streets, before resuming their usual routes.
The traffic operation will be monitored by officers responsible for implementing the changes. Drivers and public transport users should pay attention to the signage and follow the officers' instructions during the event.
Recommendations
To get to the event, it is recommended to use public transportation. The São Francisco Xavier Metro station is the closest to Rua Alzira Brandão.
Due to road closures, drivers are advised to avoid the area during the closure hours and seek alternative routes.
Operations and Resilience Center
The Rio de Janeiro City Hall's Operations and Resilience Center (COR-Rio) has prepared a strategic monitoring plan for the World Cup celebration at Alzirão, which, in addition to monitoring traffic flow and order, will also monitor the movement of people at the entrances to the São Francisco Xavier and Saens Peña metro stations, located near the event.
All vehicle traffic and circulation in the region will be monitored by on-duty operators in the Situation Room at the COR-Rio headquarters in Cidade Nova, in front of the largest video wall in Latin America, measuring 104 square meters and composed of 125 55-inch screens. An exclusive layout for the event was developed for the screen to facilitate the work of the on-duty operators.
Inaugurated in December 2010, COR-Rio will monitor its fourth World Cup. The first was in 2014, with the edition held in Brazil.
Comlurb
Comlurb has scheduled a special cleaning operation for the 2026 World Cup events at Alzirão, starting this Saturday (June 13).
The company will deploy 100 street sweepers, who will work on Alzira Brandão and adjacent streets before, during, and after the national team's matches, with the support of two large street sweepers.
The teams will perform a specialized hydraulic cleaning for this type of event, using two water tanker trucks and two vans with a pressure hydraulic cleaning system, employing recycled water, detergent, and eucalyptus essence.
The company will provide 100 containers with a capacity of 240 liters and 30 high-capacity containers, with a capacity of 1.200 liters, to ensure the proper disposal of waste by visitors.
