This Monday (12), the ferry station at Praça XV will receive a vaccination point (PV) against the flu and measles. The PV will operate from Monday to Friday, until the 16th, from 8 am to 16 pm. The initiative by the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Health Department (SMS) has been intensifying the mobilization against these two diseases by taking the influenza vaccine and the triple viral vaccine (which protects against measles, mumps and rubella) to places with large public circulation, facilitating access to immunization for Rio residents.

– The purpose of the extra points is to facilitate access to vaccination, bringing immunization to places with greater movement of people and ensuring that the population is protected. Although there are still no cases of measles in the city of Rio, recent records in the state are a warning sign for all Rio residents to keep their vaccination records up to date. Regarding the flu, we are entering the period of greatest circulation of the influenza virus, which makes vaccination even more urgent. The flu and MMR vaccines can be administered simultaneously and are essential to prevent hospitalizations and deaths – stated the municipal Secretary of Health, Daniel Soranz.

Anyone over the age of six months can get the flu vaccine in the city of Rio. In the case of the measles vaccine, the target audience is people aged 18 to 59 who are not immunized or people up to 29 who have received only one dose and need to complete their vaccination schedule with the second dose.

Rio already has 1 million people vaccinated against influenza

Last Saturday (10), D-Day for flu vaccination, the city of Rio reached the impressive milestone of 1 million people vaccinated against influenza. More than 171 thousand doses of vaccine were administered at more than 700 vaccination points available throughout the city, in Primary Care units (family clinics and municipal health centers) and also in strategic locations to facilitate people's access, such as squares, residents' associations, churches, shopping malls, schools, among others.

Vaccination is also available in the 240 vaccination rooms in health units and at the Super Centro Carioca de Vacinação, Botafogo units (open from Sunday to Sunday, from 8 am to 22 pm) and Campo Grande, which is located in Park Shopping Campo Grande (open from Sunday to Sunday, according to the shopping center's opening hours).
