The Marquês de Sapucaí gained a special color in the parades of the samba schools of the Special Group of the Rio carnival. There are 12 groups that are fighting for the title this year: Imperatriz, Mangueira, Salgueiro, São Clemente, Viradouro, Beija-Flor, Paraíso do Tuiuti, Portela, Mocidade, Unidos da Tijuca, Grande Rio and Vila Isabel.
