- GM-Rio innovates in the creation of a protocol to assist civil servants who are victims of domestic violence
The Maria da Penha Patrol recorded 43 arrests in 2024. Photo: Robert Gomes/GM This pioneering action is a reflection of the strengthening and maturing of the culture of prevention and protection for women, which began with the creation of the Ronda Maria da Penha at GM-Rio in 2021. The objective is to offer a humanized perspective and service, starting from within.
The measure, published at the end of December in the Official Gazette, also strengthens and guides the actions of the sectors that are responsible for receiving complaints in the institution, such as the Ombudsman's Office, the Internal Affairs Office and the Employee Appreciation Coordination (CVS), in addition to the Maria da Penha Patrol, whose communication flow will be constant and directed.
Requests may be sent via the internal network, external network (police stations, courts, etc.) and by the institution's managers.
The measures adopted will be assessed individually, always counting on qualified and humanized listening to the victims of violence. Also with internal care from the multidisciplinary health team, institutional administrative adjustments when necessary, mainly avoiding revictimization and recidivism (adaptation of shifts, service positions, licensing and allowances), insertion or referrals to reeducation and resocialization groups and correctional monitoring during arrests and after the release of the aggressor employees.
The Maria da Penha Patrol recorded 43 arrests in 2024, most of which were in flagrante delicto, for failure to comply with protective measures. The teams actively provided assistance to 3.017 women and carried out 25.924 support actions.
