Municipal Guards arrest man for armed cell phone robbery in Flamengo Park.

Municipal guards from the Special Operations Group (GOE) arrested an 18-year-old man in the act, in the early hours of Thursday (June 11), suspected of stealing a couple's cell phone in Aterro do Flamengo, in the South Zone of Rio. The guards were called by witnesses after the robbery, which resulted in a traffic accident. 

The victimized couple was in a car and went after the suspect and an accomplice, who were on a motorcycle. The victim collided with the motorcycle, knocking the suspects down. One of them managed to escape. The other was apprehended by municipal guards. The operation also had the support of military police officers who managed to recover the weapon used in the robbery. The motorcycle used by the suspects was also stolen. 

The detained man required medical attention due to injuries sustained in the fall. He was then taken to the 9th Police Station (Catete), where the incident was registered as robbery, receiving stolen goods, and tampering with the vehicle's identification number. The motorcycle and the firearm were seized.
