Police arrest man who used a fake gun to steal a cell phone from a ride-hailing app passenger in São Cristóvão.

Municipal guards from the Mobile Tactical Group (GTM) arrested a 22-year-old man in the act, on Wednesday night (5), who used a simulated firearm to steal the cell phone of an app passenger on Avenida Pedro II, in São Cristóvão.

According to the victim, the car window was open, which facilitated the criminal's actions. During the approach, the officers found the replica firearm and the stolen cell phone in the suspect's possession.

The man was taken to the 19th Police Station (Tijuca), where the case was registered. The cell phone was recovered and returned to the victim at the police station itself.
